Checking fluid levels

Regular checks should be made on the fluid levels in your Isuzu. These checks can be carried out in as little as five minutes and can be valuable to the safety of the vehicle as well as adding years to the life of your vehicles engine and other components.

Engine Oil

Once the engine has been switched off and left to cool down follow the below steps.

  1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and stop the engine. If you check the oil level just after stopping the engine, wait a few minutes for the oil to drain back into the oil pan before checking the level.
  2. Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean and insert it again.
  3. Be sure the dipstick is correctly inserted until it stops.
  4. Pull out the dipstick again.
  5. Check the oil levels on both sides of the dipstick. The engine oil level must be judged by the lower of the two levels. If the oil is below the lower level mark, add oil so that the full level is reached.

Isuzu recommend using Texaco oils, which are available at your local Isuzu dealer.

Brake Fluid

It is advisable to check the brake fluid level on a monthly basis.

  1. Locate the brake fluid reservoir which should be either on or near the firewall in the engine bay.
  2. Be sure to check the fluid level for the brake system at the front part of the reservoir.
  3. If the fluid level is below “MIN”, add the recommended brake fluid to “MAX”

Note: Brake fluid absorbs moisture and can affect braking performance be sure to only check brake fluid in dry conditions. Use only brake fluid from a sealed container.

Windscreen Washer Fluid

Windscreen washer fluid should be checked on a weekly basis.

  1. Locate the windscreen washer fluid reservoir
  2. Remove the washer tank filler cap.
  3. If empty add windscreen washer fluid or water until the level reaches the “FULL” mark on the filler neck.

It is advisable to use windscreen washer fluid in cold temperatures to prevent freezing of the water inside the windscreen washer fluid reservoir. You can purchase a specially formulated Isuzu windscreen washer fluid from your local Isuzu dealer.
