The New Isuzu D-Max EV has already started turning heads earlier this year, now earning the ‘One to Watch’ award at the What Van? Awards 2026. And honestly, we couldn’t agree more. As the first fully electric pick-up in the UK that still delivers full commercial capability, it’s gearing up to change the game for good.
So what makes it so special? Simple. It’s everything you expect from a D-Max: strength, durability, and proper workhorse ability, now powered by a tough, efficient electric drivetrain. You still get full-time 4WD, 3.5-tonne towing, and over a tonne of payload, all paired with a 66.9 kWh battery built for real-world use, not just showrooms.
James Dallas, Editor at What Van?, summed it up perfectly: “The pickup sector is crying out for a competent electric 4×4 workhorse and the Isuzu D-Max EV looks like it could fit the bill.” We’ll take that.

A NEW KIND OF ELECTRIC WORKHORSE
Built on our award-winning D-Max platform, the EV model brings a dual-motor system with a combined 140 kW of power and 325 Nm of torque. It’ll do 163 miles (WLTP) on a charge and hits 0–62 mph in 10.1 seconds (plenty for getting to the job site or heading out for a weekend adventure).
And yes, it’s still a proper off-roader. You’ll get:
- Full-time 4×4
- Up to 600 mm water wading
- 210 mm ground clearance
- 30.5° approach and 24.2° departure angles
- Eco Mode and multi-level regen braking
Tough terrain, rural routes, muddy tracks – the D-Max EV is ready.
ANOTHER WIN FOR THE D-MAX
This award follows hot on the heels of the D-Max being crowned Pick-Up Towcar of the Year by the Caravan and Motorhome Club. As Neil Scott, our National Sales Manager, puts it:
“The D-Max EV is a genuine game-changer: the first fully electric pick-up that delivers the full spectrum of commercial capability our customers rely on.”

ARRIVING EARLY 2026
The New Isuzu D-Max EV lands in the UK in early 2026.
