TOP TIPS FROM THE PICK-UP PROFESSIONALS
1. GET READY TO TOW
Check your vehicle can handle the trailer. The Isuzu D-Max have an incredible towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes that you must NOT exceed.
2. DISTRIBUTE THE WEIGHT CAREFULLY AND SAFELY
The load must not be outside the vehicle and the weight should be distributed evenly over the entire trailer to ensure stability of the vehicle and safety for other drivers. Most trailers come with a ‘recommended nose weight’, which you should follow.
3. KNOW YOUR LIMITS
National speed limits apply and towing a trailer changes the speed limits you can drive at:
- Built-up areas: 30mph
- Single carriageways: 50mph
- Dual carriageways and motorways: 60mph
Remember: you will be towing an excess weight behind your pick-up and therefore this will take longer to stop.
4. ENOUGH POWER MEANS PULLING POWER
Your engine needs enough power to cope with the extra load, especially when going uphill. The Isuzu D-Max has got all the power you need.
5. THE TRAILER
Using an Isuzu-approved towbar fitted by your Isuzu dealer, you can easily attach the trailer to your vehicle. Please check the trailer manufacturer’s instructions before attempting to attach for the first time.
